Frank Campise, always in our hearts, honored at 2019 show
Central States Dahlia Society's 88th Annual Show payed special tribute to our recently deceased member Frank Campise. The giant yellow dahlia 'Kelvin Floodlight' was the dahlia that inspired Frank to become the dahlia grower and eventually the mentor (par excellence) that we all came to know and love. It's befitting that we had a special section in this year's show featuring this old-time favorite dahlia. A very special prize was offered to the winner of the best single bloom entry of Kelvin Floodlight.' After careful judging, member Anne Koons was declared the winner.
The photos below show the judges critiquing the yellow blooms. Frank's wife, Romaine and her daughter-in-law were photographed in front of the large poster honoring Frank that was created by Mike Hartel. Romaine Campise is pictured at the CSDS Awards Banquet presenting the Anne Koons with her well-deserved prize. Thanks to all who honored Frank and had fun doing it. Frank would be pleased.
